Culture, Arts and Music

We believe in an holistic education and the importance of students at Ormiston Senior College being offered a wide range of cultural activities. These activities could include music groups, stage productions, dance groups, photography and art opportunities as well as celebrating a diverse range of cultures and international festivals within the New Zealand culture.
We believe in an holistic education and the importance of students at Ormiston Senior College being offered a wide range of cultural activities.

Already this year students have taken part in Polyfest with Kapa Haka, Indian and Samoan dances, the college has formed a Concert Band, a significant number of students are learning musical instruments and students have performed at our Celebration Evenings. Students have taken up the opportunity to be introduced to photography, graphic design and copywriting in order to contribute to the production of our college magazine.

There are many opportunities for students to gain self-confidence and to express themselves, through activities such as theatre sports, public speaking and debating.
We aim to earn a reputation for our strength in the performing arts and give students valuable experience in performance, stage management and stagecraft.
