Our Philosophy
Ormiston Senior College is committed to preparing and inspiring our students to achieve their very best in a global society.  At the heart of our philosophy is our focus on personalised learning, which involves designing the learning according to each individual's needs.  We will ensure learning opportunities are flexible, authentic and meet each student's aspirations and educational needs.  Each student will be supported by a Learning Advisor who will have daily contact with each of their students and have formal meetings at least once a fortnight to discuss goals and deadlines and to track their progress. Every teacher in the school, including the principal and senior leaders, will be Learning Advisors.

School Profile
Ormiston Senior College is a new state senior secondary school that caters for year 11-13 students. The college opened with year 11 students in February 2011.  The other two levels will be added progressively each year so that in 2013 we will have enrollments across each of the three year levels. We are a Decile 7 college.

Ormiston Senior College is the fourth state school to open in the newly-developed south-eastern Auckland suburb of Flat Bush, with up to four more being established over coming years as residential growth occurs.  Our main feeder school is Mission Heights Junior College, who we work with very closely to ensure a smooth transition for students into year 11.  Our diverse community has high expectations for the education of its young people, which we intend to meet and exceed.

Enrolments
Ormiston Senior College has an enrolment zone and is currently unable to take students from outside this zone.  More information on the process for enrolment, along with the enrolment zone, is found under the Enrolments section of this website.

Education Review Office (ERO)
ERO first visited Ormiston Senior College to ensure that as a new college we were ready to open. ERO staff looked at a wide range of policies, plans and procedures, both at a senior management and Board level, to assess whether the school would be fully functional on opening day. We received a very positive assessment at the start of the year.
In October 2011 ERO returned to do a thorough review of the college. Families can have confidence that the report was extremely favourable. The full report is available for reading under "Parent and Community", ERO Report 2011.
