Principal
MAURIE JACKWAYS took up his position as Foundation Principal in October 2009.
Prior to his appointment, Maurie was Leadership and Management Advisor at the University of Otago’s College of Education working largely with The First Time Principals and Aspiring Principals programmes. Before this he was the Principal of Mt Aspiring College in Wanaka for eleven years. Mt Aspiring College is known throughout New Zealand for its innovative outdoor education programme for senior students which Maurie helped to establish and develop. Maurie has a real passion for the senior high school concept of education. He has been working on the establishment of Ormiston Senior College since October 2009.
Deputy Principals
WILLIAM MADGWICK also comes with senior leadership experience: he was Deputy Principal at Alfriston College. As one of the founding staff there in 2003 he was particularly involved in establishing the technology and developing learning strategies for personalised learning. Previously he worked at Diocesan School for Girls. William’s teaching strength is in Science, most particularly in Chemistry.
DIANA PATIENCE has taught in a number of Auckland secondary schools and was Head of English at St Kentigern College from 2001 before moving to the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education in 2006. Here she was one of the curriculum advisors for English teachers in the Auckland region. Diana brings curriculum expertise and knowledge of NCEA systems having written English textbooks and been involved nationally in NCEA moderation.
Senior Leaders
FAYE BOOKER was Head of the Science Learning Area at Alfriston College. She has been involved in curriculum development and assessment at a national level. Faye has been developing learning programmes that focus on academic achievement, and foster the skills and attitudes necessary to ensure students are successful once they leave school. Faye has led professional development both within and beyond her school community.
TIM BOTTING was the Curriculum Co-ordinator at Manurewa High School. Before this he spent several years as a Dean. These positions have provided him with significant experience in curriculum leadership in the senior school as well as academic and pastoral mentoring of students. Tim’s main curriculum area is Drama and through this he has been involved with several productions and the wider cultural aspects of a school community.
LEANNE LAMB was an acting Assistant Principal at Castlemaine Secondary College in Victoria, Australia. She has been involved in curriculum development and assessment across the state of Victoria. Leanne has also worked to develop strong community partnerships in Castlemaine. She is an experienced English teacher who has taught in a senior secondary school environment for over a decade. Leanne has a passion for ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their potential in every endeavour.
MIMI MOSS was Head of Mathematics at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School in Wellington where she taught from 2003. Prior to that she taught at Wairarapa College and in South Africa. In addition to her Mathematics curriculum expertise she is experienced in coordinating professional development and designing personalised learning programmes. She has also had a long term involvement in age-group hockey at both representative and national levels as coach and manager.
