Role of the Board of Trustees

In partnership with the Principal and teaching staff, the Board of Trustees plays an important role in ensuring that all students at Ormiston Senior College are provided with the best education possible.

The responsibility of the Board is that of governance (control or authority) and overview of management of the school. The Board is responsible for ensuring that legal obligations are met and that all resources (people, property or financial) are managed in compliance with relevant legislation and in the best interests of the school.

The school’s charter and annual plan reflect specific needs and priorities. The Board sets (strategic) long term goals, develops and reviews policies, monitors performance of the Principal and staff and ensures high quality curriculum delivery. Daily management of the school is the responsibility of the Principal and the senior leadership team. The Board is not involved with the day to day management of school activities.

Members of the school community are able to attend any Board of Trustees.  Meeting dates are advertised in the school newsletter.

If you have any queries, concerns, or suggestions at any time we would suggest you meet with your child's Learning Advisor or the school Principal in the first instance. Alternatively you can address any communication to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees via the school office.

We would like to thank our Establishment Board of Trustees (Dr Helen Anderson, Gail Thomson, Alastair Campbell, Margaret Carr, Prakash Grover and Mike Higgins) for the exceptional thinking, work and time they put into delivering us with this amazing school.  We sincerely thank them for providing students of the future with such a legacy.
